Osprey Quay: Sandsfoot Castle trip

This morning we have been thinking about our class trip yesterday and writing about our favourite part.

These girls enjoyed building a sandcastle, looking around the castle ruins and looking at the huge jellyfish that had washed up on the beach.

Sandsfoot Castle.

Sandsfoot Castle. We talked about how it was built in 1539 and was made for Henry VIII. How it provided protection against enemy ships and had heavy cannons which have now fallen into the sea. The children loved looking out and firing make believe cannons and exploring where they thought the dungeons might have been.

Sketching the castle.

We also enjoyed the story 'Princess Mirror-Belle and the Dragon-Pox' and had chocolate cake!

Castle making competition at Smallmouth Beach.

As you can see, every inch of the castle was explored!

A lovely day adventuring, well done everyone!

Osprey Quay: dragons!

We have been learning about dragons this week as part of our Castles topic.

This morning we designed and labelled houses for a dragon to live in, and this afternoon some of us drew dragons on the white table. We looked at pictures of dragons on an iPad to inspire us first.

Most of our dragons were fierce and scary, but a few were friendly! See if you can decide which are which!

Osprey Quay Reception

We've been learning about money in Maths today. Some of us have been drawing objects on our maths table for our friends to buy from us using different combinations of pennies.

We are still learning about castles for our Topic. We have costumes for dressing up as Jesters, Queens and other characters who lived in and visited castles.

Here are some more of our castle drawings. We added dragons, horses, kings and Queens:

Osprey Quay Nursery

This week our Nursery have been digging and exploring in soil outside:

We have been taking refuge from the heat in our caterpillar den:

And we've been having fun singing and dancing with Mrs Fryer too!

Osprey Quay Reception

Here are more of our castles we have created!

Mrs Fryer came in to teach us some new songs in Music today. We had to be very clever and make a circle within another circle to dance and sing while moving around the circle!

These children were all on a long push bike that belonged to our friend riding at the front. It also had a high seat at the back that another friend sat on. They were first going to the hospital and then going to visit a castle!!

On the left you can also see a sneak peak of our role-play castle that we have worked hard on...

As part of our castles topic we have been designing, building and drawing castles.

One of our friends dressed himself up as a knight with a sword, shield and a long beard!
